How To: Potion Bottles

Spooky potion bottles are essential for a Halloween celebration.

Gather some old wine bottles from friends and neighbors. Old pickle and jam jars or other glass containers work splendidly as well! Remember that different shapes and sizes add to the mystique.

Remove the labels and clean thoroughly.

Paint the dried bottles with black and silver spray paint. Don’t forget the bottoms!


Use Wood wool (excelsior), and bits of canvas or ribbon and melted wax to adorn the tops. 

A candle is useful for burning edges or dripping wax
Feel free to play around with painted novelty rings and fabric stuffing as well as twine and spiders or whatever else you can find!

Print out some spooky labels and burn the edges for an aged look. Many sites will provide free potion labels you can use. Pinterest is a great source for this.

Using spray adhesive, attach the labels to the bottles, and you're finished!
