Pinewood Derby!

It's that time again! This year, we combined our Young Women's fundraiser with the Pinewood Derby for double the fun!

Red, white, and black with checkers creates a perfect race-day atmosphere.
If you've already Converted your Cultural Hall for a previous event, use the same nails along the walls to hang the wire

This cloth bunting ties the whole room together. Some cheap fabric and a few hours labor make these beautiful flags! You can buy the bias tape in 100 yard spools.

Have the youth make some signs as a fun and productive activity!
Too cute!

Little chalkboard signs are a classy way to show prices for your bake sale. Use the cake stands from previous parties to display your wares.

Pinewood Derby: Lemonade Stand

This quaint lemonade and popcorn stand is just the thing to provide refreshments and promote donations for your Cub Scouts and Young Women.

Black and red tablecloths with some bunting and you're almost there! Use the side tables to hold items for the silent auction.

Use those ever-present volleyball poles to hang some bunting and your sign. Roll out some brown paper and make a sign to advertise your (free) wares!

A miniature popcorn popper is a bonus, if you can find one. Use old-timey glass dispensers for your lemonade to keep the rustic vibe.

Popcorn! Use an air-popper to make discount popcorn and put it into cute bags to give out. Pop it into large brown paper bags, add butter and salt and shake to add some flavor!

Splendid!

Pinewood Derby: Table Settings

These place settings are simply too cute.

Cut out some felt into road patterns and use whiteout or fabric paint to make the lines. Adorn the road with toy cars and signs from a toy car set.

These flag stands were made with wood cutouts to weigh them down, but a simpler solution is to turn them right-side-up and fill them with odorless kitty litter. Too see this method in action, check out these spooky branch centerpieces.

Red tablecloths with some bunting makes them fit perfectly into your hall!

Pinewood Derby: Trophies

Inexpensive DIY trophies for your Derby!

What you'll need:
• Wood
• Black and gold paint
• Toy cars
• Metal nuts
• Contact paper (or stencils)
• Hot glue gun

Cut the wood into little blocks with a slant on one side.

Glue the nuts on the slanted side, and paint the whole thing black.
Chalkboard paint or black matte spray paint works best.

Spray paint the cars gold and hot glue them onto the nuts.

Cut out numbers on contact paper, or use a stencil to paint them on.

Make a bunch at once and you'll have leftovers for next year's race!
